We are 75% of the way through the majors, but there’s plenty of golf left on the schedule. This week, we head to a much more lively tournament, The Travelers Championship.

31 of the top 40 in OWGR will be competing this weekend in Connecticut.

This year is one of the strongest fields in the history of the Travelers Championship, likely due to it being an elevated event with a $20M purse.

The Course

Unlike last week, we actually have some course history here, as TPC River Highlands has hosted The Travelers since 1984.

The course is short, for PGA Tour standards, coming in at 6,841 yards.

In other words… this is a birdie opportunity course. Dudes will be going low out there.

A Pete Dye design that totals only 6,800 yards? Yeah, we think SG: APP is gonna be a factor this week.

Jon Rahms Practice Routine

Rahm does a series of timed drills, based off of famous UCLA basketball coach John Wooden’s philosophies around practice.

“I don’t find it personally very productive when I go and just do a drill, or I have to be here until I finish this, make X amount of putts, X amount of this and that,” he said. “Because I don’t feel like I’m giving 100% all the time, right?”

That type of mentality helps Rahm accept failure, which, in golf, is essential for improving every aspect of your game. It reminds him that things won’t be perfect all of the time.
