Plus: Mexico Open Update, Ben Hogan Tip, and More Golf News.
Good Afternoon. It was a busy week for professional golf. The noise around reunification has reached a fever pitch, Tiger Woods visited the White House, Jordan Spieth announced he’s having a third kid, and Anthony Kim said that he did drugs in the porta-potties of major championships. It’s hard to keep up sometimes.
Isn’t That Simple? Anyone Can Do That
The great ones really do make it look so easy!

Quick Update: Mexico Open

Bombers, Birdies & a 20-Year-Old Stealing the Show
On Wednesday, we called this tournament a bomber’s paradise meets birdie-fest—and through 36 holes, that’s exactly what it’s been. With a weaker field than most PGA Tour stops, this event has also become a proving ground for young guns and mules looking to earn some Fedex Cup points.
Enter Aldrich Potgieter. The 20-year-old South African, who’s averaging 320 yards off the tee, torched the course with a second-round 61 to take the lead at -16.
He even reached the 661-yard 12th hole in two, ripping a driver off the deck to 20 feet. If his name sounds familiar, it’s because he became the youngest winner in Korn Ferry Tour history last year at just 19.
He holds a four-shot lead over Stephan Jaeger and Brian Campbell, while the top-ranked guys in the field—Aaron Rai (-11) and Akshay Bhatia (-10)—are lurking.
Meanwhile, 17-year-old Blades Brown, who skipped college to go pro, made the cut at -5.
Plenty of firepower heading into the weekend—let’s see if the kid can close it out.
