Quick Recap: Grant Thornton Invitational
Patty Tavatanakit and Jake Knapp claimed a one-shot victory at the Grant Thornton Invitational on Sunday with a 7-under 65. Tavatanakit holed a clutch 25-foot birdie putt, and Knapp followed with a brilliant pitch to set up another birdie, sealing the win for the UCLA duo at Tiburon Golf Club.
Impressive Teamwork: Tavatanakit and Knapp, who each won on their respective tours on the same day this year (Knapp at the Mexico Open and Tavatanakit at the Honda LPGA Thailand), delivered standout performances down the stretch to secure the title.
Runner-Up Finish: Jeeno Thitikul, last month’s LPGA finale winner at Tiburon, holed an 8-foot birdie on the final hole as she and Tom Kim carded a 64 to finish second.
Late Mistake: Akshay Bhatia and Jennifer Kupcho stumbled on the 18th hole with their only bogey of the round in the modified fourballs format, ending in third place.
