Preview & Picks: Farmers Insurance Open

The annual trip to Torrey Pines often feels like the “true” start of the golf season, even though it’s technically the fourth event on the PGA Tour schedule.

The fields are usually strong, and the South Course is a daunting test at 7,800 yards. Unfortunately, this year’s field, while still solid, will be missing Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, and Collin Morikawa.

Xander is sidelined with a rib injury, and Scottie is still recovering from a cut on his hand. Morikawa withdrew without providing a stated reason.

As a result, Ludvig Åberg and Hideki Matsuyama are at the lowest odds I can ever recall seeing for them, both sitting at +1000.
