Preview & Picks: Bank Of Utah Championship

Plus: Amazon's New Ball, Jack Wins Lawsuit, and More.

Good Afternoon. Here’s a golf joke for ya.

A man gets on a train with both front trouser pockets stuffed full of golf balls.

He sits down next to a beautiful blonde, who can't help but glance repeatedly at the bulges in his pockets.

Noticing her repeated stares, he points to the bulges and says, "Golf balls."

She pauses, thinks hard , then asks... “Does it hurt as much as tennis elbow?”

Preview & Picks: Bank Of Utah Championship

For the second time, the PGA Tour is headed to Utah for the Bank of Utah Championship.

Black Desert Resort is ranks as one of the more visually stunning TOUR stops, but it’s not particularly challenging (for the pros), ranking 38th out of 50 in difficulty.

There’s 132 players in the field, but only 5 of them rank inside the Top 50 in the world. As with all of the Fedex Fall events, the results of these tournaments matter most to the guys who are trying to sure up their status for 2026, which means they need to finish inside the Top 100.

Last year, Matt Mcarty won the inaugural event at 23-under.

Guys on the bubble:

Rico Hoey (No. 91), Matt Wallace (No. 93), Beau Hossler (No. 95), Patrick Fishburn (No. 98), David Lipsky (No. 99), Isaiah Salinda (No. 101), Joel Dahmen (No. 103), Max McGreevy (No. 104), Victor Perez (No. 105), Sam Ryder (No. 106), Andrew Putnam (No. 107), Lanto Griffin (No. 108), Lee Hodges (No. 109) and Taylor Moore (No. 110).

Shanks Picks

Winner: Alex Noren +1900 He’s the highest ranked player in the field (17th in OWGR) and has been trending in the right direction for a while now.

Winner: Aldrich Potgieter +3500 The young bomber has proved he can win on Tour and his length could give him an advantage this week.

Winner: Max Homa +4000 Max has been grinding to get his game back in form. We can’t say that he’s done that quite yet, but a win this week would go a long way toward righting the ship.

Golf Trip Highlight: Streamsong Resort

Carved through the sandhills of North Carolina, Tobacco Road is golf’s wildest ride - a course that feels like a fever dream of strategy, creativity, and pure fun. Designed by the late Mike Strantz, every hole tells a story, daring you to pick your line, trust your swing, and embrace the chaos.

From blind tee shots through towering dunes to greens tucked between rugged bunkers and pines, it’s a course that rewards boldness and imagination over textbook perfection. You’ll walk away talking about that tee shot on 13, or the approach on 18 that somehow found its way home.

Just an hour from Pinehurst, Tobacco Road is the perfect curveball on a North Carolina golf trip — a course that makes you think, laugh, and maybe swear a little, all in one round. Off the course, you’ll find laid-back Southern hospitality, cozy nearby lodging, and a cold beer waiting at the clubhouse that overlooks one of the most memorable finishing holes in golf.

👉 Perfect for: groups who crave character, creativity, and unforgettable stories — the kind of golf you can’t stop talking about on the drive home.
