Plus: What Nobody Tells You About Chipping & LIV's Biggest Weekend

Good Morning! Welcome to Shanks. The PGA Tour desperately needs a new weatherman.

There is not one, but two team golf events on this week. The Zurich Classic and LIV Adelaide. Oh, and Nelly Korda will go for six in a row on the LPGA Tour.

Weekend Golf Recap: Historic Runs

Nelly Korda Makes History

Nelly Korda secured her fifth consecutive LPGA Tour victory on Sunday at The Chevron Championship. She clinched the win by two shots over Maja Stark.

With her victory, Korda joins the ranks of Nancy Lopez and Annika Sorenstam as the only players since 1978 to win five straight titles.

Her historic run deserves every bit of coverage it gets, but let’s hope that the broadcast and pace of play are a little better next week.

It took over six hours for the leaders to complete their rounds yesterday, and between the slow pace and lack of cameras on the ground, it totally sucked the juice out of a historic moment in women’s golf.

It was as if they were taking broadcast tips from the PGA Tour or something.

She's set to compete at the JM Eagle LA Championship this week where she'll have the opportunity to surpass Lopez and Sorenstam.

Scottie Wins RBC Heritage

What can you say that hasn’t been said at this point?

The guy is in complete command of the golf ball and he’s doing something we haven’t seen since peak Tiger Woods. Some say it’s boring, we say it’s awesome.

He’s simply not going to beat himself out there - so who’s gonna beat him?

By the way, this was his TENTH chip-in of the year, for those keeping count at home.

Miles Russel, 15, Makes History Again

Miles Russel, who is fifteen years old, is better at golf than you and me.

Now that we’ve had that slice of humble pie, let’s appreciate the young man’s accomplishments.

  • He became the youngest player ever to make a cut on the Korn Ferry Tour.

  • He became the youngest player on record (since 1983) to notch a top-25 finish on the PGA TOUR or Korn Ferry Tour.

  • He won the AJGA Player of the Year award at a younger age than Tiger Woods.

His top-25 finish earns him a spot in next weeks KFT event, even though he’s still too young to earn any money or points.

What Nobody Tells You About Chipping

This simple, step-by-step chipping technique is easy to learn and will help you start striking the ball better.

With this technique, you'll be able to chip onto the green more reliably and with more confidence, resulting in better golf scores.

Shots Heard Round The World

LIV’s Biggest Weekend

Australia was starved for pro golf and LIV simply answered the call.

Now Adelaide is their most successful event.

Jon Rahm was recently asked about it in Australian Golf Digest.

Q: Given Australias contribution to the game, do you think we’ve been neglected by world tours?

A: It’s easy to say yes but you also have to understand, Australia isn’t the easiest country to get to. But I think there could have been a bigger effort made (by the tours). I do remember growing up watching the Australian Open, Australian Masters and Australian PGA and those three events being big events that attracted the best players. When I turned pro, it just wasn’t part of what players did. I’m fully aware Jack Nicklaus has won six Australian Opens and Gary Player has won seven. It’s something that’s engraved in history and I’m glad I’m now going to be part of playing golf in Australia.

LIV, which is run by one of Australias most famous athletes, Greg Norman, embraced Australia and it’s paid some early dividends for their tour.

LIV Sold 77,000 tickets to the event last year and local news stations are calling for 50% increased capacity this year.

When asked about why the PGA Tour doesn’t go down under anymore, CEO Jay Monahan said “what’s Australia?”.
