After two rounds at Augusta National, the 89th Masters is shaping up to be an instant classic.

Justin Rose (-8) leads the field, but he’s got no shortage of pressure behind him.

Bryson DeChambeau (-7) — one of our picks to win — is just one shot back and found himself at the center of a mini controversy Friday. Despite being in contention, he wasn’t shown much during the broadcast, which set social media on fire. Even Lil Wayne weighed in. The Masters responded by uploading every shot from his round.

The two betting favorites, Scottie Scheffler (-5) and Rory McIlroy (-6), are lurking right behind. Rory in particular has made waves - he stumbled in the first round and fell to even par, but then caught fire yesterday and shot 6-under. His shot into the 13th green to set up eagle was incredible. Now he’s right in the thick of it.

Other big names within striking distance include Tyrell Hatton (-5), Viktor Hovland (-4), and Jason Day (-4), while former Masters champs Hideki Matsuyama (-3) and Patrick Reed (-3) are just outside the top 10.

How hilarious would it be if Matt McCarty (-5), who just got his tour card this past fall, shocked the world?

In total, 7 players are within 3 shots of the lead, and 15 are within 5.

It’s a loaded board heading into the weekend. Buckle up.
