Good afternoon. If you want to watch Tiger Woods hit a golf ball this week, his TGL team is playing live on ESPN on Tuesday night. It’s a nice little way to come down from a crazy weekend of NFL Playoff games.

Quick Recap: The Sony Open

You were probably watching the NFL Playoffs on Sunday, if so, there was another playoff going on that you might have missed.

How we got there is much more surprising than the fact that we got there at all.

The Sony Open has come down to a playoff in 6 of the last 10 years. The notable part is that nobody expected Nick Taylor to be the one to win it, especially considering he missed back to back four footers on the 69th and 70th holes.

On the 72nd hole, with the leaders behind him, he chipped in from 60ft to go into the clubhouse with the lead. You can watch the clip here if you missed it.

JJ Spaun and Stephen Jaeger both failed to make birdie on 18, which left Nico Echavarria and Nick Taylor tied at the end of four rounds at Waialae.

They played the 18th twice in the playoff, both making birdie the first time. The second time they played the 18th, only Taylor made birdie, of course, after another clutch chip shot to about 3 feet.

Nick Taylor has a knack for coming up big in big moments, if you remember his insane walk-off putt at the RBC Canadian Open a few years ago. If he wasn’t Canadian, I would be demanding his inclusion on the US Ryder Cup team.
