Long live the full field tournament.

It’s easy to overlook events like the Rocket Classic, because they often lack the firepower of signature events and majors, but yesterday demonstrated the power that full field tournaments still have.

At the start of the day, there was about 20 golfers who could’ve won, but by the end of the day the list was whittled down to just three; 20 year old Aldrich Potgieter, 30 year old Max Greyserman, and 40 year old Chris Kirk.

A 3-man playoff between players that were decades apart in age.

Chris Kirk dropped out after the 2nd playoff hole.

The action continued between Potgieter and Greyserman until the 5th playoff hole, where the 20 year old sank a birdie putt to seal the deal.

Potgieter, from South Africa, joins a short list of international players to win on TOUR before age 21 over the last 100 years:

• Seve Ballesteros

• Rory McIlroy

• Joaquin Niemann

• Tom Kim

• Aldrich Potgieter
