Captain Keegan Wins Travelers

Plus: Swinging Both Ways, Golf Gal of The Week, and More.

Good Afternoon. Women’s golf is surging in popularity, but the LPGA continues to screw things up.

In the event you didn’t know, the women had a major yesterday, which was plagued by slow play, difficult conditions, and unhappy players & commentators.

The course set-up at PGA Frisco was heavily criticized, something to keep in mind as the PGA Championship will be hosted there in 2027. Read More.

Quick Recap: The Travelers Championship

The golf was great yesterday, but partially because weather concerns and five mid-tournament withdrawals forced the PGA to send the groups off in threesomes.

That decision led to hometown hero Keegan Bradley playing with the leader, Tommy Fleetwood, and contender Russel Henley.

For Tommy Fleetwood, a European Ryder Cup team member seeking his first career win on American soil, it wasn’t an ideal situation. It’s almost like the golf gods intervened to his detriment, because the whole crowd was behind Keegan.

The Team USA Ryder Cup Captain was 3 shots back with four holes to play. He hung tough & it all came down to the 72nd hole. It was Tommy Fleetwood’s tournament to lose on the 18th fairway.

Fleetwood, who seemed to be indecisive about which club he wanted to hit for his approach shot into the 18th green, ultimately left his approach shot 50 feet short.

Keegan stepped up and hit his shot to 6ft. The crowd roared.

Then Russel Henley chipped in from just off the green to get to -14. Tied with Bradley, but momentarily behind Fleetwood at -15.

Fleetwood left his birdie putt short and about 6inches behind Keegan Bradley’s ball. Then, the golf gods (pitch mark) seemed to intervene again.

Check out the way Tommy’s putt diverted off his line compared to Keegans.

Just like that, Keegan Bradley makes birdie for the win and Tommy Fleetwood makes bogey to come up short, yet again.

Now, for the next three months, we get to watch golf fans argue over whether or not Keegan Bradley should pick himself to play in the Ryder Cup. (He should)

When asked after the round if he will pick himself, he simply looked at the camera and said “GO USA!”.
