The Presidents Cup Team Is Set
The stage is set for the 2024 Presidents Cup at Royal Montreal Golf Club, and the teams are officially locked in.
U.S. captain Jim Furyk has his squad ready to roll with automatic qualifiers Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Wyndham Clark, Patrick Cantlay, and Sahith Theegala. Furyk’s six captain’s picks are Sam Burns, Russell Henley, Keegan Bradley, Brian Harman, Tony Finau, and Max Homa. Notably, Bradley will be both playing and acting as a vice-captain.
International captain Mike Weir rounded out his team with picks Corey Conners, Taylor Pendrith, Mackenzie Hughes, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Min Woo Lee, and Si Woo Kim. They will join automatic qualifiers Hideki Matsuyama, Sungjae Im, Adam Scott, Tom Kim, Jason Day, and Byeong Hun An. With three Canadians on the roster, Weir is hoping for some hometown magic to finally bring the International Team a win on their own turf.
Were there any snubs? Always.
Weir had to make the tough call to leave out fellow Canadian Nick Taylor, while for Team USA, Justin Thomas and Billy Horschel also missed out. Notably, this is the first time in a decade that none of Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, or Rickie Fowler are on a Presidents Cup team.
