For the first time in a decade, the PGA Tour returns to Colorado.

The top 50 players in FedEx points are set to tee off Thursday at Castle Pines Golf Club, a Jack Nicklaus-designed course just outside of Denver.

Surprise, surprise…

Weather is projected to impact the BMW Championship.

According to the PGA Tour, thunderstorms are expected on Thursday and Friday, but calmer weather is anticipated for Saturday and Sunday.

However, wind gusts up to 20 mph are likely throughout the weekend.

If you didn’t know, the Denver area sits at a high altitude, meaning the air is thin.

In other words, while the course is listed at 8,100 yards, it plays closer to 7,200-7,400 yards, and the ball tends to travel farther than at sea level.

Players and caddies will need to adjust accordingly, taking into account the altitude, thin air, and likely wind. It could get dicey out there at times, but the BMW Championship is typically a birdie-fest. So, plan accordingly.
