Memorial Tournament Recap
Viktor Hovland wins, Rose Zhang arrives, and more.
Yoo! Good afternoon and welcome to Caddyshanks. We hit another bet this weekend: Shane Lowry Top 20 Finish +170. Not a big win, but that’s money in the bank three out of the last four weeks. Tell your friends.
Here's what we've got for ya today:

Quick Recap: PGA Champioship
👑 Winner: Viktor Hovland 3.6M
The Memorial Tournament is one of those events that isn’t a major, but has the set up and feel of one. This was the biggest win of Hovlands career.
He even got a classic Nantz one-liner to accompany his W.
“From Oslo to Ohio!” Jim Nantz cheered as the young stud from Norway drained his victory putt, capping off another great weekend of golf at Muirfield Village, and a playoff victory over Denny McCarthy.
The Memorial was Viktor Hovlands fourth win on tour, but his first in the USA, believe it or not. He previously won twice in Mexico and once in Puerto Rico.
"It feels really cool to get my first win on the U.S. soil, especially at a tournament like this where the golf course is arguably harder than most major championship golf courses we play," Hovland said to ESPN. "It felt like a major. So it was really cool that I was able to get it done at a place like this."
He was the only player to break par in all four rounds.
The runner-up, Denny McCarthy, played his balls off this weekend in pursuit of his first career win in 156 attempts.
He was very emotional in his post tournament interview, he wanted it bad.
“I’m heartbroken right now,” McCarthy said. “It really sucks. I thought this was going to be the week.”
What about everybody else?
Scottie Scheffler: It’s difficult to convey how good this dude is playing right now. He dominated in strokes gained tee-to-green, yet his putting has just not been there. He missed the playoff by only one stroke after making the cut on the number. Denny McCarthy had a 20 stroke differential in putting over him this weekend.
Rory McIlroy: Another Sunday meltdown for Rory. I’m starting to feel bad for him at this point. If you missed it, there’s a clip as he was walking off 18, and Jack shook his hand and said “We need to sit down and talk sometime”.
What Jack said to Rory: "We need to sit down and talk sometime."
What he meant: At some point I need you to walk me through how you can miss so many greens from 97 yards away. twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

Rose Zhang has arrived
As we have stated on this newsletter multiple times: ROSE ZHANG IS GOOD.
We should’ve bet her this week and we will regret it forever as she’ll never be at +4000 odds ever again, but let us not miss the point here.
Rose has the potential to be a lightning rod for women’s golf the way Tiger is for the mens game. She so good, you’ve just gotta watch.
Just watch this clip below. Second playoff hole, she gets outdriven by 25 yards, steps up with ice in her veins and hits 4 hybrid to seven feet. Clutch.
What. A. Shot. 🔥

Early Lines: RBC Canadian
Rory McIlroy, Matt Fitzpatrick, Sam Burns, Cameron Young, Tyrrell Hatton, Tommy Fleetwood, Shane Lowry, Sahith Theegala, Justin Rose, and Corey Conners are the top dogs competing this week in Canada.
Rory always plays this event and has won it before, so despite a complete inability to close on Sunday’s, he’s the favorite by a mile.
This week might be a Shane Lowry week.
As always, tune in Wednesday for the picks and deep dive.
