Quick Recap: Scottish Open
👑 Winner: Rory McIlroy 1.57M
The conditions were tough on Sunday at the Renaissance Club, with only 13 golfers shooting under par.
The winds off the Scottish coast forced the tee times & pin locations to be moved up. Gusts were up to 40 MPH and seemed to stymie the entire field.
Well, except for one guy that is.
For a moment, it seemed as if the golf gods were instructing the winds to blow favorably in the direction of Scotlands native son, Robert MacIntyre.
He was the low man on the day at -6 and went into the clubhouse with the lead.
Rory McIlroy began the final round with the lead, which normally equates to heartbreak. Everything seemed set up for a Scot to win his national open, you know how this tape plays out.
Then, Rory McIlroy birdied four of his last five holes including 17 & 18 en route to an upset victory over Bobby Mac.
His approach shot on 18 was one of the best shots all year. Clutch stuff. Oh, and turn the volume on if you want to hear what a pure 2-iron sounds like.
Rory McIlroy: "That 2-iron on 18, that's probably going to be up there with one of the best shots I'll hit in my career."

Shanks Picks Update
Tommy Fleetwood can’t close a ham sandwich.
The winds blew Tyrell Hatton (our top 5 pick) to T6. Excruciating.
Golden Tee World Championship
You walk into an arcade, you hear Journey’s “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)” blasting, you got a pocket full of quarters and mom isn’t picking you up for another 2 hours. Life is good. Which game do you go to first? If your answer is Golden Tee, the golf arcade game series by Incredible Technologies with it’s signature use of a trackball to control your player, then you might be in a select few to compete in Las Vegas.
Just this last weekend, tons of people competed in that ridiculous 115 degree desert heat to be crowned THE 2023 GOLDEN TEE WORLD CHAMPION. It’s absurd I know. And according to @CPowers14 on Twitter, there was, “Lots of dudes. Lots of beers. Lots of sweat from the Vegas heat. This is where champions are made.” People were dead serious too.
Check out this Tweet of a dude rocking a towel and a glove. For an arcade game. If you want me to skip to the good part, some dude named Paul Tayloe won and apparently gave a real “golden tee” of a winners speech.
The moral of the story? Follow your dreams,.. the ones you dreamt when you were 12 years old walking through an arcade with all the time in the world, pondering your future and imagining yourself getting paid to play arcade games as an adult. What a dream!
Early Lines: The Open
The final major of the year is upon us and we couldn’t be more fired up.
Odds via Fanduel.
Of all the majors, The Open is the one where players can be most impacted by the elements. If the breeze starts blowing, look out.
As of now, the weather looks pretty moderate for Thursday and Friday, with Saturday looking to be the toughest in terms of wind, and Sunday looking pretty moderate again.
Fun Fact: Zero of the last 13 winners of The Open finished inside the top 25 the year prior to winning.
A few names that finished outside the Top 25 last year: Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka, Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas, and Max Homa.

Chef: Steph Curry follows up his hole-in-one with a walk off eagle to win American Century Championship.

One super rad thing that The Open has?
A sick Youtube channel where you can watch classic editions of the event.
Here's a few to wet your whistle ahead of the 2023 Open.
Golf Thing We'd Buy If We Weren't Broke
There’s a small caveat here… we went to go find the 2i that Rory used yesterday and realized that it’s custom made for him.
You can get the other irons here, but will have to contact TM directly for a 2i.
That's all folks! See you Wednesday where we'll make The Open bets.
