Plus: Brooks defends, golf sale, and more.

Good afternoon! Welcome to Shanks. We happened to be in Ponte Vedra yesterday, playing TPC Sawgrass, and it turns out that if you go to the bars around Ponte Vedra, you’ll likely run into a few PGA Tour employees. The few we talked to seemed very optimistic that the Tour will be partnering with new investors and not the Saudis.
Trivia: Before Tom Kim, who was the youngest player to successfully defend their title on tour?

Super Quick Recap: Sanderson Farms

Tom Kim has become the youngest player to notch three wins on the PGA Tour since Tiger Woods. He’s also the second youngest player to successfully defend a title since 1912.
Our guess? This won’t be the last time we see Tom Kim in the winners circle. Between now and the next time he wins, he needs to talk to someone like Brooks Koepka about how to properly celebrate.
When asked afterward how he planned to celebrate, he told the press that he bought a piece of Ferrero Roche white chocolate that he’d been saving since he was in Europe and that he couldn’t wait to eat it… kinda boring tbh.
We’d be going way harder than that if we were the youngest person since Tiger Woods to get to three tour wins.

Koepka Defends At Jeddah
Brooks Koepka defended his title at Jeddah after securing a birdie in the 2nd playoff hole against Talor Gooch. Brooks’ win at Jeddah was enough to bump Bryson DeChambeau out of the top-3 individual season standings, and earned Koepka an EXTRA $4 million, something he hilariously found out in the middle of an interview.
With Talor Gooch making it to the playoff in Jeddah, it was enough for him to gain control as champion of the individual standings in the LIV Golf season, bumping Cameron Smith into 2nd place. If you bet that Talor Gooch would best Cameron Smith in individual standings, you must have insane foresight.
Things weren’t great for all Koepka’s though, seeing as how Brooks’ younger brother, Chase Koepka, and 3 other LIV players (Jediah Morgan, James Piot, and Sihwan Kim) were relegated from LIV Golf. No surprise here, as all 4 players basically finished DFL in every LIV Golf event. Not even an electric hole-in-one could keep Chase on his brothers’ team. Oops!
You catch the highlights of the final round here. The final LIV Golf event for the year, the 2023 Team Championship, takes place on October 20-22 in Miami.

Shots Heard Round The World

Early Lines: Zozo Championship

Odds via Fanduel
This is the best field we’ve had in a tour event this fall.
The Zozo Championship is played in Japan and their native son, Hideki Matsuyama, is in the field.
Can he win in front of the home crowd at +1800? Picks on Wednesday.

Golf Thing We'd Buy If We Weren't Broke
There are lots of golf things we’d buy if we weren’t broke. So, we went looking for a sale. A GOOD sale. And we stumbled upon this little-known brand called Lacoste. They happen to be having the sale of all sales that we’ve ever seen from the brand. Let’s check out the biggest savings and best looks.
1. Croc Print Golf Polo - Was $135. Now $53.99.
2. Golf Relaxed Fit Hoodie – Was $155. Now $61.99.
3. Twill Golf Pants – Was $160. Now $119.99.
4. Stretch Golf Shorts – Was $130. Now $77.99.
5. Golf Cap – Was $60. Now $44.99.
Look freaking sharp on the course. Restore the order. Rep the croc. No not that croc.
That’s all folks! See you Wednesday.
