Has The Scottie Scheffler Era Begun?

You could argue that it’s been underway for a while now, but he’s had one thing separating him from greatness - putting. He was the 145th ranked golfer in SG: Putting over the course of the 2022-23 season. It’s been an issue his whole pro career.

It’s hard to believe, we know.

Now, look at the results below and imagine if he was like, even 70th in SG: Putting?

New year, New Scottie?

According to Justin Ray Golf, Scottie gained nearly two full strokes on the field putting during his round of 64.

It's just the 3rd time in his last 10 starts that Scottie has had positive strokes gained putting in each of the first 2 rounds of a tournament.

Maybe he’s having a breakthrough because of his Olson Manufacturing Putter?

Speaking of Olson, there are rumors that TaylorMade has actually acquired them, which explains why both Scottie and Nelly Korda have been gaming new Olson putters.

Is TM trying to have their own Scotty Cameron?

What About Everybody Else?

Yeah, Scheffler is in the lead, but there is a bunch of top talent right behind him.

There are three players one stroke behind; Brendan Todd, Sungjae Im, and the one and only Tyrrell Hatton.

Hatton shot an 11-under 62 yesterday, but that didn’t stop him from doing Tyrrell Hatton-esque things, like slamming his club into the ground a bunch of times after flubbing a chip shot.

Viktor Hovland, Jordan Spieth, and Collin Morikawa are all just two or three shots behind as well.

Patrick Reed Has To Pay Brandel 😂 

Where We Started

Patrick Reed is a big whiny baby. He didn’t like the things being said about him in the media, so he sued a bunch of them for $750 million.

The case had already been dismissed twice. 

Reeds lawyers argued that the PGAT, NBC’s Golf Channel, Brandel Chamblee, Eamon Lynch, and other media members had maliciously sought to defame Patrick.

Judge Says It’s Free Speech

Reeds Lawyer: “As alleged in the Complaint, these calculated malicious attacks have created hate, aided and abetted a hostile workplace environment, and have caused substantial financial and emotional damage and harm to Mr. Reed and his family.” 

The Judge: “Reed does not meet the required pleading of actual malice to hold the press liable for defamation. While Reed may be frustrated at the negative media coverage he receives [some of which seems over the top], under Florida law and the First Amendment, Reed fails to bring actionable defamation claims and his cases therefore must be dismissed.” 

In the latest ruling Judge Corrigan said the media members had “exercised the constitutional right of free speech” in their publications about Reed as a public figure." 

Now that the case has been officially thrown out, Reed has to cough up attorneys fees and costs for the side he was suing, without merit, because he hates free speech.
