Quick Update: The 3M Open

Not the leaderboard you expected?

The 3M Open got a little more interesting on Friday as the 36-hole leaders turned on the jets, just not the dudes you’d have guessed pre-tourney.

Taylor Pendrith and Matt NeSmith both fired up the leaderboard, shooting rounds of seven-under 64.

Pendrith took the lead at 12-under par, putting himself two shots ahead of Matt NeSmith, who jumped 23 places to get to solo 2nd at ten-under.

Pendrith is chasing his second win of the season, following his victory at the CJ Cup earlier this year. Meanwhile, NeSmith is gunning for his first-ever PGA Tour win.

What about everyone else?

First-round leader and PGA Tour rookie Jacob Bridgeman carded a 70, dropping three strokes back to 9 under, tying with Andrew Putnam, who shot a 66. Doug Ghim (64), Lanto Griffin (66), Alex Smalley (65), and Jhonattan Vegas (66) are right on their heels at 8 under.

Meanwhile, big names like Sam Burns, Sahith Theegala, Tony Finau, and Emiliano Grillo are all in the hunt.
