In this week's golf lesson you are going to see how Danny Maude is adding 20, 30, 40, and sometimes 50 yards to golfers in a single session with a super short backswing. Watch.
Preview: The John Deere Classic
During the first round of this tournament, you are likely to be:
A. At a 4th of July party
B. Celebrating our great nation's independence by lighting off fireworks
C. Having a cold one
D. All three
So, we won’t blame you if this is a tournament you don’t check-in on until Sunday.
That’s not to say it’s an awful tournament, because it’s not—it just happens to fall during an awkward week on the PGA Tour schedule.
The field isn’t terrible, but it should’ve been a bit stronger. It had originally featured Patrick Cantlay as the highest-ranked player, but he dropped out after sustaining an injury while training.
Now, Sungjae Im, Sepp Straka, Jason Day, and Keith Mitchell round out the top end of the field.
You may notice we’ve omitted Jordan Spieth from that list, despite the fact that he’s competing. Honestly, he hasn’t been himself out there in quite some time, and while he still has the pedigree to win against a weaker field, we wouldn’t bet him with someone else’s money.

Also, expect a birdie-fest at TPC Deere Run; the last few years have seen scores in the 20-under-par region. It’s not a very imposing course.

The Open: Justin Rose In, Sergio Garcia Out

It was the best of times for Justin Rose, who clinched a spot at The Open at Royal Troon.
Afterward, he spoke about how he still believes he’s good enough to win a major at 43. It’s been 11 years since his U.S. Open win at Merion.
Meanwhile, it was the worst of times for Sergio Garcia, who got put on the clock and missed qualifying by two strokes at West Lancashire.
This means Garcia won't be playing in his 100th major at The Open this year.

TEMPORARY WARTIME GOLF RULES
Players are asked to collect Bomb and Shrapnel splinters to save these causing damage to the Mowing Machines.
In Competitions, during gunfire or while bombs are falling, players may take cover without penalty for ceasing play.
The positions of known delayed action bombs are marked by red flags at a reasonably, but not guaranteed, safe distance therefrom.
Shrapnel and/or bomb splinters on the Fairways, or in Bunkers within a club's length of a ball, may be moved without penalty, and no penalty shall be incurred if a ball is thereby caused to move accidentally.
A ball moved by enemy action may be replaced, or if lost or destroyed, a ball may be dropped not nearer the hole without penalty.
A ball lying in a crater may be lifted and dropped not nearer the hole, preserving the line to the hole, without penalty.
A player whose stroke is affected by the simultaneous explosion of a bomb may play another ball from the same place. Penalty one stroke.
