Update: The Players Championship

The Players is off to a good start, with a dark horse leading the pack and some big names chasing.

Your leader after one round is a gentleman named Chad Ramey. Never heard of him?

That's because he's only got one win on tour, this is his first Players, and he missed the cut in 18 of his last 28 starts. Can he hang on for three more days?

If you think so, you can take him +3500 right now.

The Caddyshanks pick, Collin Morikawa +2100, sits one behind the leader. Both enjoyed bogey free rounds. Must be nice.

As always, Scottie Scheffler (+450 OR)is lurking somewhere, ready to pounce at -4.

You've got Jordan Spieth, Viktor Hovland, Justin Rose, and Si Woo Kim sitting at -3.

Kinda like Spieth again, OR at +2000

Then, you've got Rory "The Face of Golf" McIlroy turning in his worst round in a year at +4. He got off to a slow start last week, maybe he will bounce back today and make the cut, but it's going to require a great round. +900 to finish top ten.

Will he be in tip top shape a month from now, in Augusta?

Will he ever complete the career grand slam with a win there?

Here's the leaderboard heading into the Friday:

Weekend Notes:

Apparently, the top TaylorMade players have all switched back to their old drivers. Not a good look for the new Stealth 2 campaign.

Hayden Buckley - Hit the 11th ever hole in one on the famous 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass.

Since it's 8am on Friday morning, and some of the players are teeing off early today, we're gonna end our notes here so you can read this & get some bets in.

WTF does TPC mean anyway?

It actually stands for Tournament Players Club and there’s a whole “TPC network” (30+ total courses) owned, operated, and licensed by the PGA TOUR.

If a course has TPC in the title of the name, it means they identify as a course that maintains the network’s high level of standards. Even though “TPC network” literally sounds like a made-up term from your corporate IT department.

One of golf’s most famous holes, is located at TPC Sawgrass. #17 is a par 3, 137 yard hole, which features just like, a small island as the green. It’s ridiculous bro. 50 freakin’ balls were hit in the water in the first round in 2007. The highest score ever on this hole came in 2005 when Bob Tway quadrupled the par.

His son actually played yesterday, he made par, but the broadcast did mention his old man.

Got money burning a hole in your golf joggers? If you feel like you’re up to the challenge of TPC Sawgrass, step right up for a nominal fee of $600 per player between September and May, and $450 per player between June and August! Lol. As if. I don’t need to burn $600 so I can ruin my afternoon in paradise. I’m not a masochist.

Poetry In Motion

We just want to call special attention to this bunker shot Jordan Spieth hit yesterday. The touch and control this dude has with wedges is absurd.

The Greatest Golf Infomercial of all time.

I just want to know how many of these were sold at the time, to whom, and did they regret the purchase or not.
