PGA Championship Recap
Brooksie is back, The Real Life Tin Cup, and more.
Yoo! Good afternoon and welcome to Caddyshanks. We have picked the winner two weeks in a row, a feat unheard of in golf gambling. Hope ya'll have been following our picks. If you didn't make money, its your own fault.
Here's what we've got for ya today:
Quick Recap: PGA Championship.
Real Life Tin Cup
Early Lines: Charles Schwab Challenge
What would a scratch shoot at Oak Hill?
Golf Shots Heard Round The World
Golf Fun Fact
Golf Thing We'd Buy If We Weren't Broke
Quick Recap: PGA Champioship
π Winner: Brooks Koepka 3.15M
Between the weather, eighteen lightning fast greens, and penal bunkers on every hole, Oak Hill left no doubt that it was a major championship calibre venue that would test the best golfers in the world.
Which man would rise to the occasion and grab the Wanamaker trophy for his own?
Brooks Koepka, that's who.
Brooks went out there and played bully ball. He played his game. He played quick and he stayed aggressive for four straight days. He earned every bit of that trophy and maybe even a spot in the Ryder Cup.
That was the Brooks Koepka that we all remember. A cocksure man around a bunch of little boys.
It was cool to see his personal comeback arc play out. If you remember his episode of Full Swing, he was so depressed he literally said he could no longer compete with the Scotty Schefflers of the world. Many people agreed with him.
Yesterday he proved himself and his doubters wrong.
His caddie, Ricky Elliot, was interviewed after the round Sunday, and was asked about Brooks mental game. I will paraphrase, since I cannot find the original quote, but he essentially said .."golf is one of those games where when its good, you never feel like you're gonna lose it, and when its bad, you feel like you'll never be able to find it again."
Well, it looks like Brooks found it again.
He now has FIVE major championships and is one of the most accomplished golfers of all time.
What about everybody else?
Viktor Hovland: Viktor is the only player to finish in the top ten in all three of the last major championships (PGA, Masters, The Open). We picked him pre-tournament to finish top ten and he did. He is our early favorite to win the US Open.
Scottie Scheffler: Scottie made a push on Sunday and ended up tying with Viktor for 2nd place. How many majors will this guy end up with before it's all said and done?
Bryson Dechambeau: Bryson remains one of golfs most eccentric figures and similar to Brooks Koepka, he seems to be healthy and finding his form again. Despite losing a few pounds of bulk, he still absolutely smashes the golfball. Great showing for him.
Rory McIlroy: Not the worst we've seen from Rory, but there was never a single moment in this tournament where you felt like he was going to win it. Hopefully, one day, we will see him get his mental game straightened out. Maybe he should ask Brooks and Bryson for advice?
The Real Life Tin Cup
We have to lead with the tournament winner and we did, but was there a more compelling story in all of sports than Michael Block this weekend?
Watching Block, a PGA Professional from California, compete with the best in the world, was incredible for golf fans. It is the type of storyline that only the PGA Tour can provide.
His final round felt like it was pulled straight out of the movie Tin Cup.
UNBELIEVABLE!
MICHAEL BLOCK JUST DUNKED A HOLE-IN-ONE!

His hole-in-one was one of those moments where you rush to grab your phone and text your golf buddies "DID YOU SEE THAT?!". Electric.
Of course, because the golf gods love drama, he had to get up and down from the heavy cabbage on the 18th hole to finish in the Top 15, and get an invite for next year.
Just listen to the crowd roar as he sinks his final putt of the weekend, winning almost 300k, and earning his spot in next years PGA Championship.
The PGA Championship is the Major for the golfer in all of us.
Well, Michael Block, we are all fans of you. Thanks for taking us on this ride.
We'll see you next year at the #PGAChamp

Early Lines: Charles Schwab
This week, we get to come down from the major championship high with a pretty solid golf event. The Charles Schwab Challenge at The Colonial Country Club in TX.
As per usual, we will do a deep dive on Wednesday and see if we can suggest a winner for the third week in a row. It's hard work, but somebody's gotta do it.
Sam Burns is +2500 to defend his title. He would be the first to do so at Colonial since Ben Hogan.
Scottie Scheffler is the Vegas favorite by a wide margin, but +400 just ain't enough juice.
I think this week is going to be a "first win of the season" type week for someone. Justin Rose? Tommy Fleetwood?

DIZZY: Inside the dizzying final holes of the PGA Championship. More details on the final round from Brooks and Viktor.
TO LA: The race to Los Angeles Country Club is on.
AWKWARD: Seth Waugh did NOT want to shake Brooks hand. Awkward.
GIVEAWAY: If you haven't signed up and invited your friends yet, today is the final day to enter to win a Scotty Cameron putter. Enter here.
What Would A Scratch Shoot At Oak Hill?
Geno Bonnalie, the awesome dude who caddies for Joel Dahmen, is playing a round at Oak Hill this morning. He's a +.2 handicap, which means he's a heckuva golfer, but not pro level.
Alright, friends...it's time. Follow this thread for updates

If you're curious, he's updating this thread (above) throughout his round. He is currently +5 through four holes. Yes, he's playing from the championship tees.
Golf Fun Fact
Well, this is different.
PGA Fun Fact: Oak Hill usually operates without tee times. Once three members of a foursome are on property, their group is placed in a queue. Groups are then alternated between the East and West courses. So members donβt know which golf course they are playing until they arrive
