⛳️ Four Way Tie For The Lead
Plus: The Match is back on Monday.

Quick Update: The Mexico Open
Four Way Tie For First
Jake Knapp, Alvaro Ortiz, Sami Valimaki, and Matt Wallace are all T1 and 11-under.
Ortiz, who grew up in Guadalajara, has bounced around different tours the last few years. Most recently, he’s been on the Kornferry Tour - and struggling a bit.
To win his home country’s open would be the biggest win of his career…kind of.
Technically, he’s already won the Mexico Open, but it was back in 2021 when it was not an official PGAT event.
If he wins this time around, he will earn a two year tour exemption, exemption into the remaining five Signature Events and invites to THE PLAYERS Championship, the Masters and the PGA Championship.
How about these stats on the leaders? Jake Knapp has been INSANE out there.
Round 2 Stat Recap | #MexicoOpen 🪅
🏆 Alvaro Ortiz shot one of the rounds of the day (64, -7) to move into a tie for first. He would become the first Mexican player to win this event since ... he did it in 2021.
💪 Matt Wallace (66-65) continues his assault on weak fields. He… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

What about everybody else?
Wednesday, we said we thought Tony Finau probably jinxed himself with the Golf Gods after saying he felt he was “primed to go on a run”. He got off to a slow start, but he’s still hanging around at T9 and 6-under.
Erik Van Rooyen, who was the first round leader, is 10-under and in second place.
Shanks Picks Recap
Well, we’ve got a few live ones again. None of them (besides Ryo) are officially cooked yet.
Winner: Nicolai Højgaard +1800
With two rounds left, Nicolai is 7 off the lead. Not totally insurmountable. He is currently T31.
Top Five: Ryo Hisatsune +750
Ryo made the cut on the number (and moved a bunch of dudes off the cut line with a birdie at the last) but top-five may have been a little ambitious.
Top Ten: Brandon Wu +320
Bumpy first round, solid second round. He is 4-under and T31 along with Nicolai.
Top Twenty: Jake Knapp +175
Honestly, Jake might win the whole darn thing.
Longshot: Cam Champ +4500
Well, he got off to a scorching start in the first round, but the second was a little messy. He looked like he was going to finish strong and then made double on the last. That hurt to watch.
Make The Cut Parlay: That’s a winner!

Own A Piece Of The Golf Boom ⛳️
The golf industry is booming, but do you know where it’s booming?
Away from golf courses. More people played golf at an off-course venue for the first time in history than at a traditional course last year.
Now you can get a cut of this growth by investing in GolfSuites.
GolfSuites aims to dethrone TopGolf with better venues, better margins, and a more agile growth strategy. And they’re off to a hot start.
GolfSuites has already opened venues in four states
ALL locations are already profitable
They’ve pinpointed 200+ locations for expansion
If you love golf and want to invest in a fast-growing business, this is the opportunity for you.
The Match Returns Monday
After last year, where we were subjected to having to watch Klay Thompson and Steph Curry take on Patrick Mahomes and Taylor Swifts boyfriend, consider us actually excited about this edition of The Match.
Here’s what you need to know:
Rose Zhang, Rory McIlroy, Max Homa, and Lexi Thompson will all be competing 1v1v1v1.
It will be played at The Park in West Palm, under the lights.
The format is mixed skins, with each hole being worth a specified amount for charity.
It’s a 12 hole event, they will all play off the same tees for the Par 3’s and different tees for the remaining 8 holes.
Whoever raises the most for charity wins.
Should be much better than last year, we think!
Meme Of The Week
Buddy: you wanna golf, day drink, and crush a bunch of hotdogs?

Ronald Rugumayo Reminds Us What It’s All About
THIS is what I love.
Ronald Rugumayo is from Uganda. He is the 2901st ranked golfer in the world. The 30-year-old was sitting one outside the cut line coming to the last.
He had this putt to become the first player from Uganda to make a cut on the Euro Tour.

Thing We'd Buy If We Weren't Broke
Rich Man’s Sport makes some really cool wall art for your home or office.
They’ve got the one pictured above, which speaks for itself.
They also have Super Mario style maps of different courses - like Augusta.
That’s all folks! See you Monday.
