The Skinny King Himself

Bhatia Wins Playoff Over McCarthy

After the first few holes of the final round it looked like it’d be a cake walk for Akshay Bhatia. He had a six stroke lead at one point.

Then Denny McCarthy got hot.

McCarthy hasn't won on the PGA Tour yet, but you wouldn't know it from the way he was dropping birdies. Seven straight to close out his round, including sticking it close on the 72nd hole and draining the birdie putt.

That put all the pressure on Bhatia to make a clutch putt just to force a playoff.

You got to hand it to Akshay though. A lot of young players might have folded in that situation, but he showed great composure to knock that putt in when it mattered most.

Getting that playoff win sealed his first trip to the Masters too.

Overall, just a really entertaining final round between two players leaving it all out there.

Jack Nicklaus, Johnny Miller, and Tom Weiskopf all in their primes. If you haven’t watched it before, you can watch the entire final round below.
