Who could’ve predicted that Jhonattan Vegas would secure his first victory in seven years yesterday?
Not this guy.
It was his fourth win on Tour and perhaps his most important, after battling a myriad of injuries over the last couple of years.
Vegas moved from 149th to 66th in the FedExCup rankings, safely securing a spot in the Top 70 for the postseason.
What about everyone else?
Heading into Sunday, Vegas held a narrow lead over Matt Kuchar, who was vying for his first victory in over five years. Max Greyserman, Maverick McNealy, Taylor Pendrith, and Sahith Theegala were also in contention.
Late in the back nine, Vegas was tied with Max Greyserman at 16-under, but broke that tie with a birdie on the 72nd hole to win.
Greyserman finished solo second.
Matt Kuchar and Maverick McNealy tied for third place.
Kuchar, who has not missed the playoffs in 17 straight years, will need a very high finish in two weeks at The Wyndham Championship to keep that streak alive.
