The Houston Open Field

Can Scottie Scheffler win three in a row?

Vegas seems to think so - he is currently available on Fanduel at +270. As per usual, he is the favorite by a wide margin. Those are Tiger Woods in his prime odds, folks.

When you look at the field this week, it feels like there’s about four guys who have a chance of beating him; Will Zalatoris, Wyndham Clark, Sahith Theegala, and Jason Day, maybe? And now Wyndham has a back injury on top of it.

Then again, there’s been a lot of longshot winners on tour this year…

Strange Start To The Year

A quick recap of the first twelve events of the year on tour.

  • 8/12 winners have been triple digit longshots!

  • Hideki won the Genesis at 80/1

  • Wyndham Clark won at Pebble at 80/1

  • Scottie won at Bay Hill and The Players as the favorite.

Notably, every single event for the PGA Tour this year has seen a decrease in viewership from 2023.

Is that because the big names aren’t showing up? Is it because of LIV?

It’ll be interesting to see if the trend reverses as we get into major season.

The Houston Open Favorites

Scottie Scheffler, Wyndham Clark, Sahith Theegala, Will Zalatoris, Jason Day, Tony Finau, Si Woo Kim, Keith Mitchell, Alex Noren, and Kurt Kityama

Don’t Bogey this Opportunity

Topgolf-style entertainment venues are booming, and investors are dying to get a piece.

The problem? They’re locked out. Just this week, shares of Topgolf Callaway (MODG) soared after rumors swirled that the company would focus solely on Topgolf. But once execs denied it, the market corrected.

Fortunately, there’s a better way to invest in this boom.

GolfSuites is tapping into this $16.7b market with top-class entertainment venues, from outdoor ranges to downtown bars.

With three profitable venues on the books and hundreds more marked for expansion, GolfSuites has the prices and profit margins to finish atop the leaderboard.

GolfSuites is open to all investors (and isn’t weighed down by an apparel brand, either). Become a GolfSuites shareholder today.

Fluff Is Still Going At 76

Fluff was Tiger’s caddie when he made his debut in the late 90’s and he’s still out there caddying at age 76 and yes, he’s still smoking.

Just incredible stuff.

After his breakup with Tiger he got on Jim Furyk’s bag and he still works with Furyk on the Champions Tour to this day.

Recently, because the schedule allows for it, he’s been back on the PGA Tour with CT Pan. You may have noticed that famous mustache on your TV…

Anyway, Golf Mag wrote a good piece about him yesterday, which includes his key to happiness and the best advice he’s ever received.

Worth a few minutes of your time for sure.

Weak Chug, JT.

You’ve just gotta be better than this.

Thing We'd Buy If We Weren't Broke

Oh, the horror!

Students Golf just dropped their SS 24 collection, which features this design and a t-shirt version as well.

There’s also hoodies, jackets, shorts, and accessories.

That’s all folks! See you Saturday Morning.
