Quick Recap: Wyndham Championship
👑 Winner: Lucas Glover $1.36M
Every week, no matter who wins, it seems like we are talking about their equipment.
After Rickie Fowler and Wyndham Clark won, their putters were in high demand.
After The Open, Brian Harman talked about how he uses a putting mirror. We bet there were a ton of putting mirrors sold that week.
This week is no different.
Lucas Glover rode to victory on the back of his putter. A L.A.B. Golf Mezz 1 Custom, to be exact.
Glover uses a broomstick version of the putter with a long shaft and split grip. “I needed a whole new idea,” Glover told pgatour.com in Detroit. “A whole new brain function. The other one obviously wasn’t working. I’ve been struggling with short putts for so long. I just thought I needed to teach myself to do something else and it’s been working. … Once you learn how to stand there and address it, it pretty much works itself. It’s been a nice change.”
Sunday marked Glovers 5th win on Tour.
What about everyone else?
Russell Henley: This fella got some of the worst breaks you could get. After being tied for the lead prior to the rain delay, he came out and bogeyed the final three holes. His ball landed in a divot, his ball took an unlucky hop into heavy rough, and he just couldn’t overcome it.
Billy Horschel: Billy faltered down the stretch, but had a career low round of 62 this weekend and won us money. He will miss the playoffs, but seems to have found some form again.
Adam Scott: He was our outright pick last week, and he put forth a good showing, but T7 wasn’t enough. He and Shane Lowry will both miss the playoffs.
Justin Thomas: You’ve probably heard by now, but JT is going to miss the playoffs. He finished 71st in Fedex points. Respect to him for grinding to the last shot.
Quick Recap: LIV Greenbrier
👑 Individual Winner: Bryson DeChambeau - $20 million
👑 Team Winner: TORQUE GC (-49): Mito Pereira 63, David Puig 66, Joaquin Niemann 66 (Rd. 3 score: -15) - $5 million
Bryson DeChambeau made history on Sunday at the The Greenbrier in West Virginia when he shot a 58 to win. If you want a taste of how epic the moment was, check out this fan video. And if you want to be that person that says “well he shot a 58 on a par 70 course” then you must be fun at parties. You must also hate watching a dude nuke his 9-iron 216 yards too!
Other Noteworthy Stats:
Harold Varner III was 34/36 on greens in regulation after the 2nd round
Matthew Wolff, who recently took a verbal lashing by team captain, Brooks Koepka led most of the tournament and finished tied for 3rd (-16)
Something we wish we could do: get out of the bunker Talor Gooch
Phil Mickelson almost made a hole-in-one on his first shot of the day
You can catch the tournament recap video here.
With the LIV Golf Tour nearing the end of the season, these final events should remain ultra-competitive and fun to watch. The LIV Golf Tour will be heading to Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey on August 11th thru 13th .
Golf Shots Heard Round The World
Absurd Golf Headline: After fatal fight at country club, a hole-in-one photo helped ID a murder suspect.
Fedex St. Jude Odds
Last year, Will Zalatoris and Sepp Straka faced off in a playoff, with Willy Z coming out on top for his first victory on tour.
Also, like we mentioned 100 times last week, the Top 70 players for the season have qualified for the playoffs. All the big dawgs will be in the field this weekend at TPC Southwind.

See you Wednesday for our picks and not to brag, but we did nail Top 10 and Top 20 last week.
Golf Thing We'd Buy If We Weren't Broke
On the 10th anniversary of the release of Tiger Woods’ most popular golf shoes, Nike saw fit to just drop these sweet babies on the site with no real warning. So let me be your first warning – don’t have your credit card nearby. You will find it impossible to not want to spend $240 on the newly released colorway, aka, the Light Smoke Grey/Blue Lightning combo.
For some context, apparently Tiger Woods was a fan of the Nike Free running shoe and wanted that comfort plus the functionality of a golf shoe. Nike engineered the shoe to allow for multi-directional movement and exceptional traction with its six spikes. If the blue isn’t your thing, don’t worry, you can spend your hard-earned dough on the iconic finish that is the Tiger Woods’ Sunday red/black.
Trivia Answer: Matt Kuchar.
See you Wednesday with some playoff bets!
