Plus: The Tour is about to get $3 Billion
Good Morning! Welcome to Shanks. If you’ve ever wanted to work in golf, we highly recommend going to the PGA Show next year. It’s a great way to get to know golf as an industry, but more importantly, to meet and connect with real people from the industry. And a special shoutout to the folks at Bridgestone, who were incredibly kind and welcoming, by far the nicest group of any OEM at the show, and their new Mindset Ball is really clever.
Golf Joke: According to some old guys, when you hit it dead left OB, that’s called a Thurmon Munson, or a “dead yank”. Munson played for the Yankees and died in a plane crash in 1979. Dark joke, but you will impress the old guys if you know who the heck Thurmon Munson is.
Here's what we've got for ya today:

Torrey Pines South Course Is A Beast
If anything can convey the difficulty of Torrey Pines during the third round, it would be the scoring average, which was 73.55. A full shot and a half harder than the first two rounds.
Not only that, but only two players shot 68 or better during the third round Friday.
If you’ve been reading Shanks for a while, you know we prefer contests like this, as opposed to the Birdiefest last week at the Amex. We want scars and struggle. We want the golfers to bleed a little.
Heading into the final round, there are 26 players within 5 shots of Stephen Jaeger, the leader. The history of this tournament would tell you that Stephen’s one stroke lead won’t be enough to win it.
According to PGAT, 8 of the last 10 winners came from at least 3 shots back entering the final round.
“I Got Punched In The Face”
Thomas Detry was playing great. He was in the lead on the 18th hole and he’d avoided disaster all day. Shit, he even laid up on the 18th and played it safe. That choice ended up earning him a double bogey. Golf is so f*cked up, he ended up finishing the 3rd round at 9-under and 4th place.
Water ball on No. 18 for leader Thomas Detry.
Brutal.

Shanks Picks Recap
Alright, the cards not totally dead, but there’s not much to be happy with either.
Winner: Min Woo Lee
Chef made the cut, shot even par in the third round, but is seven shots off the lead and T38. Would take a miracle to win.
Top Five: Jason Day
MC for Jason Day.
Top Ten: Ludvig Aberg +200
This is our best chance for a winner, with Ludvig T-10 heading into the final round.
Top Twenty: Sahith Theegala +160
Currently 1-under and T60, he’ll need an incredible round to sneak into the top-twenty.
Longshot: Hideki Matsuyama +7000
There was a brief, shining moment when it looked like Hideki had a shot, especially when he was 7-under with his first career ace, but a 76 in the third round put him out of the race.
Make The Cut Parlay: Busted, with Jason Day missing the cut.

Great Sex, Solved Naturally
JOYMODE’s Sexual Performance Booster is like a pre-workout, but for sex! It’s designed to support erection quality, firmness, and sex drive utilizing clinically supported doses of L-Citrulline, Arginine Nitrate, Ginseng, and Vitamin C.
Simply mix a packet with 6-8 ounces of water, just like your favorite electrolyte sachet. For best use, consume anywhere from 45 minutes to 5 hours prior to sexual activity. After consuming our Sexual Performance Booster, blood levels of arginine increase, which will directly promote nitric oxide production, penile tissue relaxation, and increased drive. Meanwhile, the antioxidant action of vitamin C will protect nitric oxide from oxidative degradation, which enhances the blood flow promoting activity of nitric oxide. Collectively, these effects enhance sex drive, increase sexual energy, better blood flow to the penis, resulting in better performance & erection quality.
Finally a superior, science backed alternative to prescriptions with all sorts of side effects or over-the-counter gas station pills that are sketchy and fraudulent!
Anthony Kim Is Back…
For more than a decade he’s been golf’s Yeti, golf’s most famous recluse, golf’s man of mystery, golf’s greatest “what-if”. As the years have ticked by, stories from his abridged career have been told and retold with increasing levels of admiration and exaggeration. His cult hero status has continued to grow, even as hopes of his competitive future have dwindled.
But now Anthony Kim is planning his return to professional golf.
PGAT To Get A Few Billy
By now, you’ve undoubtedly heard about SSG, or Strategic Sports Group, which is lead by Fenway Sports Group and a bunch of other deep-pocketed investors.
You’re probably also aware that they became the third entity to join the “framework agreement” with LIV and PGAT.
Well, according to Sportico, they will be sending the PGAT it’s $3 billion dollar cash infusion within the next few days. The LIV part of the agreement is still up in the air, especially with this new form of financial leverage the tour has.
It’s been 7 months since the framework agreement was laid out between the PGAT and LIV, and they say they want an agreement reached by April, but who knows how this will all shake out, even with guys like Bryson saying the merger with LIV should be done soon.
All we know for sure is, with $3 billion in cash, the PGAT is in a much better financial position than they were a year ago.
