Quick Recap: Canadian Open

👑 Winner: Nick Taylor 1.6M

O Canada!

Finally, after 69 years without a Canadian winner, Nick Taylor ends the drought.

All it took was almost seven decades, four playoff holes, and a 72 foot putt.

Taylor just barely made the cut, then fired off 63-66 to head into the clubhouse with the lead on Sunday.

Tommy Fleetwood, pursuing his first PGAT win, tied him on the 18th hole to force a playoff.

They played the 18th twice, then the 9th, then back to the 18th.

Then Nick Taylor hit a 72 foot eagle putt that brought down the house.

What about everybody else?

Tommy Fleetwood: Heartbreaker for Tommy, who somehow is always near the top of the board, but just can’t seem to get over the hump.

Caddyshanks: Close, but no cigar. All of our bets faltered on Sunday. Back to the drawing board.

Perfect Form

If you weren’t watching yesterday, during the playoff, a few Canadian pro golfers stuck around to cheer on their countrymen in the playoff.

After Taylor won, they stormed the green on 18, and Adam Hadwin was mistakenly tackled by security. Someone captured it in slow motion and it’s just perfect.

The recognition by security, the spray of champagne, the form tackle, the shock on the caddies face. 10/10.

Early Lines: US Open

The 123rd US Open begins Thursday in Los Angeles, at the LA Country Club.

It’s a full field (156) event, with a bunch of previous US Open Champs contending.

That list includes: Matt Fitzpatrick, Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, Gary Woodland, Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth, Martin Kaymer, Justin Rose, Webb Simpson, and Rory McIlroy.

We don’t know a ton about the course, because LACC has never hosted a major championship and has not hosted a professional golf tournament since 1940.

However, with three par-5s, three 225+ yard Par-3s, and six 480+ yard Par-4s, we may want to look at who the best long iron players are.

Viktor Hovland wins his first major +1600?

The Rough

It’s not a major championship unless there are a million videos on social media where a guy drops a ball into the rough to show us how crazy thick it is.

Well, here you get to see not only how deep the rough is, but also how fast the greens are rolling. This week is gonna be fun.

What are you hitting?

Someone said “probably driver, 3 wood for me”.
