Twice this year, Bobby Mac has reminded golf fans what the game is all about.

Six weeks ago, he won the Canadian Open with his dad on the bag. It was emotional and meaningful.

Yesterday, he won his home country’s open, The Scottish Open. It was just as emotional and even more meaningful.

Both wins reminded us of what makes golf great—storylines and people who care about things other than money.

So, how’d it go down?

Adam Scott was this close.

In fact, it looked like he had the whole thing in the bag after an incredible up-and-down on the 16th. It put him two shots clear of everyone else.

That's when the real drama unfolded.

MacIntyre catapulted himself into a tie for the lead at 17-under with a spectacular eagle on No. 16, after receiving relief from a sprinkler head and launching a 248-yard shot from the rough to within 10 feet of the pin.

Scott had already finished his round and watched from the clubhouse.

As MacIntyre prepared for his putt on the 18th green, the possibility of a playoff seemed certain.

But moments later, he watched his golf ball die into the cup, electrifying the crowd. With that, MacIntyre celebrated his victory, fulfilling a lifelong dream and winning his home Open.
