Update: Valero TX Open

After a weather delayed round one, the old guys Padraig Harrington (51) and Matt Kuchar (44) are sitting atop the leaderboard with MJ Daffue and Roberto Diaz.

Justin Lower is finishing up his first round this morning, along with Fowler, Matsuyama, and last years champ JJ Spaun. Not too much action so far.

However, I did love this quote from Harrington, which shows he's still got so much enthusiasm for the game.

"I'm an optimistic, pretty enthusiastic person," Harrington said. "I wake up and the minute I hit a golf shot I'm dreaming I'm going to find the secret. Even though there isn't one, you're always hopeful, dreaming. Let's see if I really am better out there with the kids."

There's really not a whole lot of detail to share with readers today, as we only got through part of one round yesterday. So, let's check in on our picks.

Rickie Fowler was sitting at -2 and then made double bogey right before they blew the horn for darkness, ending his round even through 11 and T49.

MAYBE BLOW THE HORN BEFORE THE DOUBLE BOGEY, PGA!

Tyrell Hatton is -2 and T15, our fade of the week is playing well.

Cameron Davis, the dark horse pick, is +4. He's pretty much done.

Alex Noren, our top ten pick, is sitting pretty at -1 and T27.

šŸ’°Reminder of Shanks PicksšŸ’°

Outright Winner: Rickie Fowler +2000

Fade: Tyrell Hatton +1200

Dark Horse: Cameron Davis +5000

Top Ten: Alex Noren +333

Remember This Name: Rose Zhang

Rose Zhang may end up becoming the Tiger Woods of women's golf. She's currently ahead by 5 strokes at the Augusta National Women's Invitational and there are only two other women within 10 strokes of her. She is a phenom in the making.

Zhangā€™s bogey-free 66 on Wednesday was, at the time, the lowest score in the history of the ANWA.

She shot 65 on Thursday to break her own record.

She is nine under on the par 5s alone.

She has more birdies (12) through two rounds than past champions Jennifer Kupcho, Tsubasa Kajitani, and Anna Davis each had through three rounds the years they won.

She is making a mockery of strokes gained.

Golf Fact To Make You Seem Smart

Magnolia Lane, the entryway to Augusta, is exactly 330yds long and is lined with 61 Magnolia trees, some are over 150 years old.

LIV Orlando Preview

I know that the title ā€œOrange County Nationalā€ sounds like it should be in the OC like in the CA OC (see what I did there?) but leave it to Florida to make things sound ass backwards. This is the last tournament before 18 LIV players compete in The Masters, so weā€™ll get a good look at how these guys are performing before the first major of the year.

With $25 million at stake, LIV golfers will play the ā€œCrooked Catā€ 18 holes, a course that is usually in immaculate condition and has far more elevation changes than you normally see in a flat Florida.

If I had any money to bet, it would be on Charles Howell III (+1600) who is NOT playing in The Masters but has been tearing it up on the LIV tour for the first 2 events, finishing 1st at Mayakoba and 5th at Tucson. Currently the favorites are Dustin Johnson (+1100), Cameron Smith (+1200), and Joaquin Niemann (+1200). It would also be hard to bet against 4 Aces team every week, seeing as how theyā€™ve been in contention for 1st every event.

The tournament gets underway with a shotgun start at 1:15 p.m. ET on Friday, March 31. All 48 players will be in groups of three and start on 16 different holes.

    Flashback Friday

Nick Faldo here to take you on a trip to Tempo Town. Watch how smooth he hits this 3-iron in the 1995 Masters. "A 220yd 3-iron that lands like a 9-iron."

    For The Group Chat

John Daly is a man of tradition and class. He loves his fans and he loves Hooters, which is why he's been doing this at Augusta since 1997.

Golf Thing We'd Buy If We Weren't Broke

Rickie Fowler looked damn good in his win against Jon Rahm at the Dell Match Play Tournament. Iā€™m not just talking about his golf play (but also that), Iā€™m talking about his polo. Iā€™m a dude from California so I donā€™t mind rocking the polo that also makes me kinda look like a coke dealer which is maybe why Iā€™m saying that when Rickie was wearing this super dope floral print, he was looking gooooood (and playing gooood).

The Puma shirt is like $90 which is sorta steep, and to be expected. If you want something comparable and cheaper, Waggle has a similar print for $69 (nice). I canā€™t guarantee youā€™ll be able to play as well as Rickie Fowler but I can guarantee everyone in your group is going to ask for a bumpā€“ I mean give you compliments on your dope golf apparel.

That's all folks! See you Monday as we dive into Masters week.
