Valero Texas Open Leaderboard After Two Rounds
Five Stroke Lead For Bhatia
After the first two rounds, rising star Akshay Bhatia has emerged as the leader, putting himself in a fantastic position heading into the weekend.
The talented 21-year-old followed up his brilliant 63 on Thursday with a solid 2-under 70 in round two, giving him a five-shot lead at 11-under.
After missing the cut at The Players, he finished T-17 at the Valspar and T-11 last week at the Houston Open.
If he can keep rolling with his stellar ball-striking and hot putter, Bhatia may well be celebrating his second tour victory come Sunday evening.
And, of course, a spot in The Masters next week.
What about everybody else?
Bhatia's closest challengers are the group of Brendon Todd, Russell Henley and Denny McCarthy, who are tied for second at 6-under.
And keeping things interesting in fifth place is none other than Rory McIlroy at 5-under. The four-time major champion will be looking to make a move over the final two rounds.
He seems to be trending in the right direction as we head into The Masters.
Will the 16th time be the charm for Rory?
Another week, another MTCP has hit! We will take anything during this cold streak.
Winner: Ludvig Aberg
Ludvig is -1 and T34. He’ll have to overcome a ten shot deficit over the next two days.
T5: Alex Noren
Made the cut on the number at +1. The top five is currently six strokes away for Noren.
T10: Christiaan Bezuidenhout
Even par has Chistiaan T47, currently three strokes out of the top-ten.
T20: Aaron Baddeley or Mark Hubbard
Both are safely in the top-twenty with Hubbard T10 and Baddeley T18.
Longshot: Keith Mitchell
Cashmere Keith is also T47 and even through two rounds. Eleven shots behind the winner.
