Uh Oh, Scottie Learned How To Putt

We’ve all witnessed the incredible ball striking displays that Scottie has put on over the last three years. We’ve all witnessed his head-scratching inability to putt. As with a lot of things in golf, it was heard to make sense of it.

Everyone shared the same sentiment “if he ever learns how to putt, it’s over for everyone else on tour”.

Well, Scottie gained strokes putting in the second, third, and fourth rounds and won by five shots. So, there ya have it.

Now, it’s easy to fall into the trap of “Monday Morning Overreactions” especially after we witnessed Scottie turn into the terminator yesterday during the final round at a really tough course.

So, we won’t make any claims that he’s going to win every major this year, just one or two probably. Putters are fickle beasts, after all.

Does He Owe Rory McIlroy A Thank-you?

Probably.

After The Genesis Rory said “I’ve certainly been through my fair share of putting woes over the years, and I finally feel like I’ve broken through and become a pretty consistent putter. For me, going to a mallet was a big change, … so I’d love to see Scottie try a mallet.”

So Scottie showed up at Bay Hill with a Spider Tour X, which is a mallet putter.

Will Zalatoris Is Gonna Win Something Soon

Yes, we know he coughed up a four stroke lead this weekend. That’s fine.

He’s gotten better and better with each tournament he’s played this year and he seems to be putting significantly better on the other side of his back injury.

Plus, he made the switch to the LAB broomstick.

Rory and Wyndham Have A Lame Idea

First, Rory called for a more “cutthroat” version of the PGA Tour with smaller fields.

Then Wyndham Clark came out and agreed with him.

That’s rich coming from a guy who wasn’t even in the Top-100 a year ago. It feels as if now that he got his, he wants to pull the ladder up behind him. Lame.
